How to make a semolina sandwich in a grill toaster?

semolina sandwich
To make a semolina sandwich in a grill sandwich maker, you can follow these steps:

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup semolina (suji/rava)
  • 1/2 cup yogurt
  • 1/4 cup water (adjust as needed)
  • Salt to taste
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 1 tomato, finely chopped
  • 1 cucumber, finely chopped
  • 1 carrot, grated
  • Green chutney or any other spread of your choice
  • Butter or ghee for greasing

Instructions:

In a mixing bowl, combine the semolina, yogurt, water, and salt. Mix well to make a smooth batter. Let it rest for 10-15 minutes. If the batter becomes too thick, add a little more water to adjust the consistency.

After resting, check the consistency of the batter. It should be thick yet spreadable. If needed, adjust the consistency by adding a little more water.

Add a pinch of baking soda to the batter and gently mix it in until it is well incorporated. The baking soda will help the batter rise and become fluffy.

Preheat your grill toaster according to the manufacturer's instructions.

Grease the grill toaster plates with a little butter or ghee to prevent sticking.

Pour a ladleful of the semolina batter onto one side of the grill toaster. Ensure the batter is spread out evenly to cover the entire surface.

Close the grill toaster and cook for a few minutes until the semolina pancake is cooked and lightly golden.

Open the grill toaster and carefully remove the semolina pancake. Place it on a plate.

Spread a layer of green chutney or any other spread of your choice on the cooked side of the pancake.

Top the chutney with a layer of finely chopped onions, tomatoes, cucumber, and grated carrot. Add any other vegetables or fillings you prefer.

Cover the filling with another semolina pancake and press gently to secure the sandwich.

Place the assembled sandwich back into the grill toaster and close it.

Cook for a few more minutes until the sandwich is toasted and crisp.

Open the grill toaster, remove the sandwich, and let it cool slightly before serving.

Cut the sandwich into halves or quarters and serve it hot with ketchup or any other sauce of your choice.

Note: Make sure to follow the instructions and safety guidelines provided with your grill toaster to ensure proper usage.
