Introduction

We all learn languages in our life. For some who are learning a language, it is for professionals as they want to grow further in their career, for some they are learning a language to improve their communication skills, and so on. In this vast world, we communicate through numerous languages, each with its unique beauty in speech and script. When we embark on the journey of learning a new language, we often encounter apprehensions about our abilities, wondering if we can truly grasp and master it. All these challenges will come but one thing let me tell you that you will overcome all these challenges when you face them and clear them.

Kannada is one of the most popular languages in the Southern part of India. This language is spoken in Karnataka and nearby areas. People have different reasons to learn it. Some want to understand its cultural values and ethics, while others simply want to communicate better with those who speak this language., for some the reason would be that most of their customers are from these states and they want to understand it so they can get maximum business from them. These reasons will be different for many people.

I am a Delhi native, and Hindi is my mother tongue. Learning a new language has never been an easy task for me. However, it was during my stay in South India that I realized the importance of understanding the local language and culture to truly connect with the place. I pondered over the idea and concluded that I should learn Kannada .

As I wrestled with the idea of learning Kannada. I discovered that the society I was living in had recently started offering free Kannada learning classes. The options included both online and face-to-face sessions. Without any hesitation, I enrolled myself in the face-to-face classes, and some of my friends joined too.

With an enthusiastic teacher, fixed class timings, and a structured syllabus, my Kannada learning journey began to take shape. Every day brought new opportunities to embrace the language and immerse myself in the rich local culture. The warmth and encouragement from my teacher and classmates made the experience even more enjoyable.

Truly, this is a commendable initiative of teaching and learning Kannada. I wholeheartedly express my gratitude to all those who are dedicatedly working towards making this mission successful.

How can I forget to mention the incredible teachers who played such a pivotal role in my Kannada learning journey! Poornamala ma'am and Rupa ma'am, the dynamic duo of language educators, deserve all the praise in the world.

Their patience and dedication were unwavering, and both always made sure to create a supportive and encouraging environment in the classroom.

Together, Poornamala and Rupa ma'am made an unbeatable team. Their enthusiasm was contagious, and their commitment to our growth as language learners was inspiring. They invested their time and energy in each one of us, ensuring that we not only learned Kannada but also developed an appreciation for the rich heritage of the region.

Their dedication did not stop at the end of the class. They were always approachable and willing to help with any queries or difficulties we faced in our language journey. Their belief in us gave us the confidence to persevere and conquer any challenges that came our way.

You both are not just teachers but true mentors and friends. Your impact on our lives goes beyond the classroom, and we will forever be grateful for the knowledge, guidance, and warmth you shared with us. Thank you for making our Kannada learning experience unforgettable!

So, my dear friends, let me share with you the essence of what we discovered in those classes—the beauty of Kannada language and the richness of its culture, both of which touched our souls and left an indelible mark on our hearts. May our experiences inspire you to explore new languages and cultures.

Step-by-step guide to learn conversation Kannada

My experience of learning Kannada has been quite enriching and exciting. I began by learning simple greetings and expressions like "Namaskara" (Hello), "Hegiddeera" (How are you?), "Chennagideera" (I am fine), and others.

I discovered that using the plural form to address a singular person politely is considered more respectful in Kannada.

I then focused on important query words such as "Yaaru" (Who), "Yaake" (Why), "Yaavaga" (When), "Elli" (Where), "Enu" (What), and "Hege" (How).

Mastering the essential verbs for daily conversations was a significant step forward in improving my language skills.

Learning the pronouns "avanu" (he), "avaLu" (she), and "adu" (it) helped me construct clearer sentences.

To deepen my understanding of Kannada, I explored gender, time, numbers, cardinal numbers, colors, and the names of various vegetables, fruits, and pulses.

Understanding tenses and practicing verbs in the present, past, and future forms allowed me to express myself more confidently.

Learning conjunctions like "mattu" (and), "aadare" (but), and "athava" (or) helped me connect ideas and create complex sentences.

As I progressed, I started forming simple sentences for various purposes, like making requests, giving advice, giving orders, asking questions, and expressing negation or affirmation .By following the steps I mentioned, I noticed a big improvement in just one month. It opened the door to connecting with people, understanding their culture, and having meaningful conversations. Start learning Kannada today, and you'll be amazed at the wonderful experiences and friendships it brings into your life!
