A Tale of Thoughtful Planning in Chikmagalur

Introduction:

Weeks before our winter trip, my husband, the expert planner, got everything ready for our family journey to Chikmagalur. He did all the planning, like booking the nice White Feather Hotel and figuring out our fun itinerary. Thanks to his smart thinking, our car, driven by him, was all set to give us three days of happiness and adventure together.

I decided to write about this because it made me realize the magic of planning in turning a simple trip into a memorable experience. The thoughtfulness behind every detail inspired me to share our journey, hoping it encourages others to embark on their own adventures with a bit of strategic brilliance. It's not just a travel tale; it's a celebration of the joy that careful planning brings to family moments.

Crafting Joyful Moments in Chikmagalur

In the winter morning of December 27, 2023, my husband, our cheerful seven-year-old daughter, Harshika, and I set out from Bangalore to the magical land of Chikmagalur in Karnataka. Our car, guided by my husband's steady hands, promised three days of family joy and exploration.

Our day began with a scrumptious breakfast at a delightful South Indian Udupi restaurant in Bangalore, setting the tone for our adventure. The road led us to Hassan, where we decided to take a break for lunch at the famous Empire Restaurant. The flavors of the food sparked conversations about the excitement of the journey that lay ahead.

As we drove on, the town of Belur unfolded before us, revealing a magnificent Shiva temple. Harshika, wide-eyed and curious, couldn't help but express her amazement. "This place is amazing, Mama and Daddy!" she exclaimed, prompting us to linger a bit longer before continuing our journey to our night's stay at the White Feather Hotel in Chikmagalur.

Checking into the hotel at 4:30 pm, Harshika's enthusiasm reached its peak as she explored every nook of our hotel room. "This bed is so comfy, Mama!" she giggled, bouncing on the cozy mattress. After settling in, we decided to venture out to explore the local area and market.

Through the market led us to a ”World coffee Experience Cafe,” where the aroma of freshly brewed coffee beckoned. "Can we try their coffee, please, Mama?" Harshika asked, her eyes shining with anticipation. I looked at my husband, and we both chuckled, knowing that a little coffee break would add a delightful twist to our day. "Sure thing, sweetie! A cup of coffee sounds like a great idea," I replied, and we all stepped into the cozy café.

As we settled into our seats, my husband added, "I heard they have some of the best coffee in town. Let's give it a try." The friendly barista welcomed us with a smile and took our order. Harshika couldn't contain her excitement, and as the steaming cups arrived, she took a careful sip, her face lighting up. "Mmm, this is really good, Daddy! Do you like it, Mama?" she asked, eagerly awaiting our verdict.

Taking a sip, I nodded with a smile, "Absolutely, it's delicious! What do you think, Daddy?" My husband, nodding in agreement, replied, "Great find, Harshika! This coffee is just what we needed for our little adventure today." And there we were, savoring not just the warmth of the coffee but also the warmth of our shared joy in that ”World coffee Experience Cafe,”

As the evening approached, a tired Harshika led us back to the hotel for dinner. The hotel's restaurant turned out to be a delightful surprise, and we found ourselves happily deciding on our dinner choices. "I don't want to go anywhere else for dinner, this place is awesome!" Harshika declared, her plate filled with her favorite dishes.

The next day unfolded with a trip to Mullayanagiri peak via Bababudan Giri road. The journey included a stop at the beautiful Manikyadhara Falls. Harshika's excitement reached new heights, and she pleaded, "Can we play in the water, Mama? And look, these toys are so cute!" We couldn't resist her infectious enthusiasm and added some symbolic toys to our collection.

Reaching Mullayanagiri, the narrow road prompted us to park our car, and a jeep ride awaited us for the final stretch. The panoramic views left us in awe, and playful monkeys added to the enchantment. "Look at them, Mama! They're having so much fun," Harshika laughed, capturing the moment with her toy monkey.

Returning to the hotel for lunch, we took a leisurely break before heading out to see a bustling lake as the sun dipped below the horizon. The vibrant colors of the sunset painted the sky, and Harshika marveled, "This is like a painting, Daddy!" We absorbed the beauty before returning for a comfortable dinner.

As the day wound down, we made plans for our last day in Chikmagalur. "I want to wake up late tomorrow, Mama," Harshika yawned, already looking forward to a relaxed morning.

Waking up a bit late on our final day, we rushed to enjoy a different yet equally delicious breakfast. "This is yummy too, Mama!" "Wow," exclaimed Harshika, enjoying a mouthful of delicious treats. After packing up, we checked out, and our journey continued to Yagachi Dam for some boating fun.

Harshika, eager for every activity, expressed her disappointment, "I wish I was big enough for everything, Mama. Can we come back next year?"We comforted her with a commitment to come back and proceeded to explore the ancient Belur Chennakeshava Temple.

Inside the temple, Harshika's excitement reached new heights. "I want a photo here, and here, and here!" she giggled, striking different poses. Lunch at Maharaja Restaurant marked the end of our visit, and we began our journey back home.

As we drove back, Harshika, tired but content, summed up our Chikmagalur adventure, "This was the best trip ever, Mama and Daddy! Can we go on another one soon?" Smiles adorned our faces, thankful for the cherished memories and the happiness of exploring as a family.
